2019 colour trends are already here

Colour trends for 2019 are already being announced and are certainly a delight for the senses.

The Pantone Colour Institute, according to Elle Décor, has picked eight colour palettes of 72 shades as 2019 standbys. Hailing these as ‘to be seen’ in homes throughout the coming year.

Elle Décor points specifically to two palettes which will be of special appeal as ‘Cravings’ and ‘Classico’.

“The shades in ‘Cravings’ are meant to tempt the eye as well as the taste buds with spicy reds, sweet flamingo orange and rich purples. Allusions to ‘fetish foods,’ such as peppers and chocolate, are tempered by the warmth of a neutral Cappuccino shade and a grassy green shade. Think bright red statement furniture and all the goodness of maximalist joy,” Elle Décor’s article describes. “The hues of ‘Classico’ skew more elegant with a nod to style fundamentals. This is the palette where ‘a graceful swan white’ and shades of camel pair perfectly with deep teals, gray flannels, burgundy reds, and caviar blacks.”

While the colour palettes have been revealed, so too has the paint colour for the year ahead. PPG Paint’s 2019 Color of the Year has been announced as ‘Night Watch’ – “a rich, luxurious and classic shade of green allowing spaces to emulate the feeling of lush greenery and the healing power of nature,” the statement described.
