Reflecting on the months that were
In the interests of providing you with the most clear and accurate picture of the steps we took throughout our closure this is a bit lengthier than usual … please bear with us, it will be worth the read.
Since we have re-opened our doors, and as we continue to move forward through this pandemic we are taking a moment to look back.
A look back to the steps and precautions we have taken since day one. Or rather, March 15. We made the decision on March 15 to close our doors ahead of the government mandates. For both the safety of our staff and community and for our loyal clients.
Our first steps were to undertake cleaning measures – to clean both our store and warehouse space. For more than three weeks we worked on disinfecting the store – all hard surfaces, baseboards, ceramic tile, hardwood flooring. Every piece of furniture, all legs, handles, buttons, every hard surface. All accessories, cords, switches, every point of touch. Every sample in the store, every hanger in the store – more than 3,000 hangers - were all removed and wiped down.
All carpets were thoroughly cleaned with industrial cleaner; all counter tops, workstations, bookcases and desks were completely cleaned out and wiped down. Our staff kitchen was gutted and scrubbed, as well as our storage room. All of this was done in consultation with local sanitation companies.
We then moved outside to clean all of the windows both inside and out, the walkways were cleaned and the lawns were groomed.
Our warehouse was also completely disinfected and sanitized, as well as our furniture truck.
Once the store was completely sanitized, it was then completely redecorated, painted and refreshed, with numerous new pieces brought in.
All of this was done by members of our team – they remained alone and worked individually.
We wanted to ensure once we were able to re-open that it would be both a safe and an enjoyable environment for everyone moving forward.
During the close, all full time employees were provided their full wages – and we devised a plan for our designers to work remotely from home. Our store manager Debbie answered your phone calls and emails to ensure all questions were answered.
Since we have re-opened, May 19, we have resumed our regular business hours. We are also now offering ‘private shopping’ and one-on-one consultations after hours in our showroom. Our designers have also once again started in-home consultations – following all mandated safety protocols.
We have masks and gloves, and wear them when requested by our clients. The store continues to be sanitized daily. We want you to feel safe and comfortable.
We have also resumed delivery and service calls (with the clients’ permission). When coming in to your homes, our service and delivery teams wear masks and gloves. They hand sanitize frequently and maintain social distancing. All service and delivery clients receive a confirmation email the day before their appointment – as a courtesy reminder and to go over all details. At the moment, for service calls we will be inspecting your furniture. If repairs need to be made, we will remove the specific item from your home and repair it in our service centre. We will then return it to you.
As the province continues to progress onward we will ensure you remain kept up to date on our services. Stay tuned to our social channels – Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – for updates as they occur.
We thank all of our loyal clients and the community for your unwavering support, as we all look forward to brighter times – post COVID-19.
